Some people might have been prepared their travel plans perfectly and have ever been visited some of the destinations at where they needed to be. But the next morning or hours from now in the middle of the night where people are still sleeping, anything could happen especially the natural disaster that has not been warned us before. Be it the earthquake on Haiti or tsunami in some countries at Asia that have been happened before, etc. If you are in such situation, as a traveller, what do you think you need to do?
You may won’t make your family in a worry so you are going to call them telling that you’re just fine. You are there for holidays and no more than that. But, the other people are losing their home and even their family members can’t be found, I have never hope you will be in that situation, but seriously, what are you going to do when you are still there after the natural disaster?
Double check that you are fine and ensure that your luggage with all of your important documents are in the right place
If you think that you are fine and all your luggage is always with you all the times because you are only bringing a single backpack, then you are truly fine for now. But when you have left them all at the hotel room where you are staying, you’d better getting back there and check if everything is on their place.
It is just to ensure that all you need to get back to your hometown or country is there so you won’t be questioned by the immigration officers. But we won’t go that far for now, you may are thinking that you don’t need to get back now and decided to help the others.
How can you help?
Keep inside your hotel room may not the choice especially when the natural disaster that just happened was an earthquake but you aren’t also know what to do. If so, get yourself out and do a quick observation about the surrounding, you may will meet the others that need a help or meet the local community are offering their hands to the others.
You can also do the same or find the other ways to help each other. For simple thing you can do, check your wallet and see how much money you still got. They may useful to buy the foods and drinks and you can start sharing them with the others.
You can also ask yourself about volunteering. And if you are really can do that, I think that’s what makes us a better person even though your main purpose is not helping each other but traveling.
If you really don’t know how to help and you have not been met the local community, you can ask around where the school or the hospital is as well as the other public service buildings. Those places are important but also the disaster-prone ones that need more helps.
